People always ask me if they can buy me a cup of coffee and “pick my brain”. I’m not sure why they think my 22 years of legal experience and knowledge comes free, but it happens so often that clearly people do. I’ve concluded that people feel this way because it doesn’t appear that I’m actually “doing” anything valuable when I sit at the coffee shop with you and “just chat”. It’s not like going into Starbucks where you can clearly see that they have products and someone is “actually” working to make that product for you. Well, my “product” is my time and knowledge. And it’s not free! Great post.
