Evening at Power and Pinkstripes

Power and Pinkstripes speaker panel Melissa CraneA couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of speaking at a great event put together by Tammie of The Event Salon. Power and Pinkstripes was a wonderful evening of inspiration, celebration and laughter. (As you can see above, I was clearly having one heck of a night).

I was so honored to be on a panel full of these inspiring women:
Ann Roth of Ann Roth Shoes
Jennifer Scully of Clinical Resources LLC
Elizabeth Gordon of Flourishing Business, LLC
Joni McRae of Focus on Video

Power and Pinkstripes speakers on stageWe discussed brand building, negotiation, life + work balance and so much more. I had such a great time being on the panel, and I think we all left feeling more empowered about our own businesses and with more knowledge to continue building our empires.

I love being around entrepreneurial women, there’s a positive energy when we all gather in a room that I can’t explain, you just have to feel it for yourself. I’m already looking forward to next year’s Power and Pinkstripes event, it’s going to be incredible!

Speaking at Power and Pinkstripes

power pinkstripes eventI was so excited when Tammie called and asked if I would be a speaker at the Power and Pinkstripes event on June 6. I was on my way home from a pretty great photo shoot, and my phone rang as I was stopped at a traffic light.

Women entrepreneurs and business leaders are some of my favorite people in the world. It’s just amazing the type of energy and inspiration that is generated when we all gather together. I am thrilled to be a part of this event.

I will be heading to Coze next Thursday evening for some cocktail networking (and you know this new mom needs a drink!) before chatting about business, branding and balance during the power panel at Power and Pinkstripes.

Hope to see you there!

BlogHer Food ’12

Speaking at BlogHer Food ’12 in Seattle was an incredible experience.

I arrived back home early yesterday morning to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport filled to the brim with inspiration, exhilarated from the trip & our experiences and humbled & moved by the people that I met at the conference.

Here I am with my fellow Food Bloggers as Storytellers panelists, love these ladies!

The In’s and Out’s of Photoshop | Teaching a Workshop

I taught my first Photoshop workshop yesterday at the She Learns Training Center in Duluth, GA to a great group of fellow female entrepreneurs. It’s been a few years since I taught design & animation classes back in college, so it was fun to get up and teach in front of a group again.

We spent most of the time going through a few exercises in Photoshop – I believe the best way to learn is to just do what you want to learn, and then practice, practice, practice. So, we cropped, rotated, changed colors of bags and created a simple web banner.

I’m not sure what I was explaining here, but “the claw” made an appearance.

(Thanks Rayann of She Learns for the photo!)

From what I heard, people loved the class and got a lot out of it (whew! I was a tad nervous beforehand.) and it looks like we might be putting together another Photoshop class, as well as an Illustrator class in the next couple months. So, yay! Stay tuned.
